In a slip-up the brothers promptly assured shareholders would never happen again, David and Charles Koch reportedly used the word “union” when describing their plans to create an organization of the nation’s wealthiest citizens dedicated to protecting members’ interests, including, but not limited to, improved wages, capital gains, and work-life balance.
“We’ve come a long way in terms of gaining more control over public policy,” the brothers stated. “It’d be a real shame if average Americans got it into their heads to start banding together to gain influence over governance again.” At press time, the brothers had reportedly settled on the phrase “liberty-fueled plutocracy orgy” in place of the dreaded U-word.
