Find Out if You Paid More in Federal Incomes Taxes Than Amazon Did Last Year

By Sahid Fawaz

The test is simple:

Calculate what you paid in federal income taxes in 2017.

Write down the number.

If it is greater than $0, then congratulations: you paid more in taxes than a company that raked in billions in profits last year (and whose founder is worth $132 billion alone).

There is a reason why we lag behind other industrialized nations in funding for education, health care, infrastructure, and so on. It’s because the richest American companies literally get away with paying nothing in income taxes.
