GM To 14,000 Workers It’s Laying Off: We Have 2,700 New Job Openings Waiting For You

GM announced today that a small number of job openings are available for 14,000 soon-to-be laid off workers.

WFMJ reports:

“As the community continues its fight to keep the General Motors plant in Lordstown open, UAW members employed there are learning that GM will have 2,700 jobs available at seven of its other plants.

However, workers from other GM plants that are being shut down will also be vying for those jobs.

The automaker announced last month that it planned to end production at plants in Lordstown, Detroit, and Ontario.

GM announced on Friday that 1,100 hourly workers in the U.S. Have already volunteered to transfer to other plants and that 2,700 transfers will still be available. 1,200 hourly workers are eligible to retire, according to GM.”
