It Took The Arrests Of 21 Labor Activists, But Sheraton Park Workers Finally Have A Contract

Labor activists from UNITE HERE Local 11 were handcuffed and taken to jail for their protest against Sheraton last week. But their civil disobedience worked! Sheraton Park management resumed negotiations with the union, resulting in a new contract for the workers!

They protected their health care, secured panic buttons for workers who go into guest rooms, doubled the employer’s contribution for worker pensions, and won historic raises, according to Local 11. And room attendant wages went up 30%.

No wonder it is being called the best Local 11 contract in Orange County.

If you missed the dramatic video below last week, make sure to watch it and relive the Local 11 protest. A big thanks to the activists for helping the Sheraton Park workers secure victory!
