Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker will go down as one of the worst enemies for labor in the history of our country.
Now it turns out that President-elect Donald Trump may lean on him for advice on attacking unions.
“A top adviser to President-elect Donald Trump said the new administration would probably look to Gov. Scott Walker for guidance on major changes to the federal government workforce.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told the Washington Post that he has urged Trump to shrink the federal government and make it easier to fire federal employees.”
Few things would be as bad for the middle class than an attack on unions by Trump. One only has to look at Wisconsin to see what Walker’s union-busting did to workers there: tens of thousands of jobs lost and the worst ranking of any state for economic growth.
Hopefully Trump sees that Walker and union-busting would be news for everyone and stays far away from advice that the governor has to give.
