We love celebrating Chinese New Year! This year, Lunar New Year runs from January 31 through February 14 and will kick off the Year of the Horse. In preparation for the holiday, it is traditional to thoroughly clean the house, get a haircut, and pay off any debts – three of my favorite things!!! We usually just have a small dinner with friends at some point during the two week period. I organize a few crafts and games for the kids. We pull out the red napkins and decorate with red and Oriental items from around the house. Traditional celebration of Chinese New Year includes paying tribute to one’s ancestors and this year I hope to honor a few of our adopted Labor ancestors as well.
