• Peeps Strike Over … Mostly

    Union workers at the Just Born candy factory in Bethlehem, Pa. went back to work on Monday, making those famous little spongy, sugary, marshmallowy treats known as Peeps as well as Mike and Ike and Hot Tamales. They had been protesting for the good part of a month, and when a strike comes to an end, it usually means a deal has been struck between the management and the union; a good thing.

    The candy company Just Born makes a lot of familiar and nostalgic American sweets: Marshmallow Peeps, Mike and Ike, Hot Tamales. But Wednesday, about 200 union workers walked off the job in Pennsylvania after contract negotiations failed with their employer.
