Workers at one of the world’s most beloved ice cream maker have said yes to their first union contract.

Vermont’s NBC local affiliate, Channel 5, reports:

“Hundreds of Ben & Jerry’s employees at two Vermont production facilities have ratified their first union contract, according to an announcement made on Tuesday.

More than 300 workers at the St. Albans and Waterbury facilities are included in the new contract as members of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 371.

Highlights in the three-year contract include allowing workers to enter into the union’s health insurance plan, in addition to a guaranteed 14% in wage increases over the next three years. That includes a 16% pay raise between now and the end of April.

Employees will also be able to move toward a hybrid eight and 12 hour shift pattern to allow for flexibility in hours worked.

Other benefits include a 9% company match on 401(k) plans, six months of paid short-term disability and six months of long-term disability as well as paid parental leave and ratification bonuses based on employment time.”
