Bezos On Space Mission: ‘I want to thank every Amazon employee . . . you guys paid for all of this’

Amazon founder, and now rocketeer, Jeff Bezos, uttered arguably the most tone-deaf statement made by anyone this year.

After his return from his ego-driven space flight today, the centibillionaire remarked, “I also want to thank every Amazon employee and every Amazon customer because you guys paid for all of this.”

His statement may have come across less cringey if he wasn’t the leader of a union-busting company that is notorious for denying bathroom breaks to employees while overworking them and micromanaging them to the point of exhaustion.

It would also be less nauseating if he and his company weren’t among the richest in the world while their workers make a pittance, with some of them needing public assistance to survive.

His remarks received strong condemnation across the country.

New York Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez tweeted, “While Jeff Bezos is all over the news for paying to go to space, let’s not forget the reality he has created here on Earth.”

And Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “Yes, Amazon workers did pay for this – with lower wages, union busting, a frenzied and inhumane workplace, and delivery drivers not having health insurance during a pandemic.”
