President Joe Biden has nominated a Communications Workers of America attorney, Jennifer Abruzzo, for the National Labor Relations Board (“NLRB”) General Counsel position.
The White House released its statement on the nomination today:
“Abruzzo currently serves as Special Counsel for Strategic Initiatives for the Communications Workers of America (CWA). Prior to her work at CWA, Ms. Abruzzo was Acting General Counsel at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Ms. Abruzzo has spent almost twenty-three years working for the NLRB in various capacities, including as Field Attorney, Supervisory Field Attorney and Deputy Regional Attorney in the Miami, Florida office, as well as Deputy Assistant General Counsel in the Division of Operations-Management in Washington, DC, where she oversaw Regional operations in the Northeast and Midwest.”
The nomination of a union attorney is in stark contrast to the previous administration when former President Donald Trump appointed Peter Robb, a partner at a union-busting law firm, to the position.
