Disneyland Hotel Workers Say Yes To Contract With $15 Minimum Wage

Members of UNITE HERE Local 11 overwhelmingly ratified a new contract with Disneyland.

The contract provides a minimum wage of $15 an hour and $1,000 bonuses. Current housekeepers’ wages will increase to $16.35 in January 2019, going up to $18.05 by January 2021. In addition, workers will now have affordable medical insurance based on the union’s health care proposal.

The agreement covers almost 3,000 cooks, housekeepers, housemen, bellmen, valet, servers, in-room dining, and other staff at Disneyland’s hotels.

Glynndana Shevlin-Sanchez, a resort concierge who just celebrated her thirty-year anniversary working at Disneyland, said, “I’m proud that all of us Cast Members stuck together and stayed strong to win the money we deserve for the value we create.”
