Guilt-Free Indulgence: Girl Scout Cookies Are Union-Made

It’s Girl Scout cookies season! And the good news is that the dollars that you spend on them not only help the Girl Scouts, they also go to union companies.

The two factories that make these cookies are manned by workers who belong to the Teamsters.

Local 554 represents workers at the Interbake Foods bakery in North Sioux City, South Dakota.

“We’ve represented the warehouse, shipping/receiving and bakery machine maintenance workers at Interbake Foods for at least the past 20 years,” said Kim Quick, President of Local 554.

And Local 783 represents workers at the Little Brownie Bakers bakery in Louisville, Kentucky.

“Bakers, line operators, mixers, forklift drivers, stackers, wrappers, caramel mixers and mechanics are some of the many job classifications we represent at Little Brownie Bakers,” said John Stovall, President of Local 783.

So go ahead and indulge in an American tradition while knowing that your consumer dollars are going to support union companies!
