Support Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Week

by Sahid Fawaz

Four months ago we kicked off our first ever “Buy Union, Buy American Week” with the “Support Steelworkers Week.” Since then we have reach millions of people via social media and raised consumer awareness of all the great products that are made by awesome union members in North America.

This week we continue that mission with the launch of the “Support Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers (BAC) Week!” Representing over 75,000 workers in the United States and Canada, BAC stands for quality and safety in the workplace and pushes the workplace standards for the some of the finest craftspeople in the world.

Founded in 1865, BAC has a rich history of advocating for the rights of its varied membership, which includes bricklayers, stone and marble masons, cement masons, plasterers, tilesetters, terrazzo and mosaic workers, and pointers/ cleaners/ caulkers. With over a century of protecting the rights of its workers, the BAC is the oldest continuous union in North America.

This week we will be highlighting many of the great projects that BAC members have worked on. These include the World War II Memorial in DC, the Nashville Symphony Hall, the restoration of the Washington Monument after suffering earthquake damage, and the World Trade Center Memorial in New York.

If you would like to follow and support this campaign, simply like our page on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to help us spread the word about all the great things that union members do every day!
