Union-Made Beast: The 707 Horsepower Street-Legal Dodge Hellcat

By Sahid Fawaz

If you like your cars fast and powerful, you’ll love the 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Living up to its name, the Hellcat is Dodge’s uncompromising take at producing the most fearsome muscle car on the market.

And best of all is that it’s not complete out of reach financially as, say, a high performance car like a Ferrari or Lamborghini would be. The Hellcat starts at $59,995. Good luck trying to find anything comparable in performance at that price level.

So what do you get for that money?

For starters, the interior is gorgeous and equipped with the latest technology.

It comes with a LCD display between the speedometer and tachometer, which shows a multitude of readings such as intake air temperature, oil temperature, and much more.

The Hellcat also comes with an 8.4 inch display that serves as the car’s command center. Here you can customize the car experience by picking from three driving modes (default, track, and sport). And each mode can be customized as well via the screen. The display can also show a variety of gauges so that you can keep a better eye on the car’s performance.

The exterior is classic Challenger with modifications in the front of the car to get as much air as possible into it.

What looks like a foglight on the driver’s side is actually a ram air intake.

Here are a few more pictures of this beast’s exterior:

Under the hood, though, is where this car really achieves its reputation.

It is packed with a 6.2L V8 Hemi engine that is capable of an insane 707 horsepower and a bone-rattling, push-you-in-your-seat 650 lb/ft of torque.

It can run a quarter mile in less than 11 seconds and go from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds.

It’s big, it’s mean, and it’s uncompromising. And best of all, it’s union-made. Take one for a test drive if you want to drive one of the baddest street-legal cars around.
